The Start of my Career
It has been a long time, since I started to focus on finding job; from mid January. As I stated in my previous blog, I had applied to one consultant company; and it is my only one option. This afternoon at 4:29pm, Mr. Gordon from EMC gave me a ring to congratulate me for having the opportunity at Emerging Market Consultancy; his words really took my breathe away. Finally my preparation for my career has paid me off.
Previously, I thought that high salary was not important; it may not be my incentive. In the first year,I may not need much money, 22 for fuel, 55 for lunch, 15 for phone, 20 for others, 30 for leisure, and 30 for clothe; in total I need only 170 a month. 250 or 300 for me will generate some savings; and it's just enough.
Nevertheless, after having the salary of $500 for my first job, I was really surprised and motivated. I will be able to save up to 330 per month if anything goes smoothly. Saving up to 4000 for the first year will enable me to live well. With job promotion, and bonus higher from year to year, I will have more than 10,000 in 2 years and this number will go up and up. My personal life plan and goal, which is highly confidential to myself only, will need to be altered a bit, faster than planned. :)
Even m not easily flattered, praises from everyone do make me over the moon. The job is not only my excellent step toward my goal, but also high-paid enough to make me proud. From the bottom of my heart, I want to repeat that I do love it.
I will start my career on 1st June. Even though it is quite long, I am a truly goal-oriented person and I will wait for it as long as it is for my goal. Actually it's an excellent timeline because I can use these 2 months to have some readings to prepare for scholarship and my master at Charle Sturt.
It is just the start. I will meet more challenges in life, but one quote I always tell myself is that "I am always happy for what I am doing." Everything is related to my goal. Good luck to me in the next steps. :)

Preparation for My Career
I graduated in late 2010 from EFI and IFL in the fields of Accounting and Finance, and English for Professional Communication. Before having a career I think I want at least a few great achievements i will always be proud of myself and great contributions to the society I live in. I have achieved many things so far counting from joining 2 youth leadership exchange programs to China and Korea, being vice president of the most successful sale and recruitment team(icx), president of Aiesec branch at ifl which got the most awards in mini-mini conference(2awards for icx and comm teams), 3rd place bronze price for National SME Business Plan Competition, and becoming manager of Young Leaders Challenge which has been improving rapidly in terms of quality in training and supporting system. YLC is to inspire and coach youths to do business plans and organize a business plan competition at the end of the program. YLC will be a great impact to the society in the long run, these members faci and participants may not start their own business or projects immediately but they will have a clear guidance about business plan and will be able to start their own project and business in the future. They may forget my name and what my team and i have supported them, but i dont care. As long as it is for my community and my society, i am willing to sacrifice my own time and effort in doing that, and i am very passionate in helping my peers as well as my people to be the business or project leaders in the near future. I strongly hope you guys wont let me down. Be the best leaders and impact other citizens, my friends. It is high time for us to do it. The world is moving fast thus we need to run. Although we were weakened by decades of war, we are Khmer, who were able to build more than one thousand temples, that's not because of magic but our intelligence. We should be proud of ourselves having born as Khmer, dont praise others and look down on our great Angkor intelligence. All I want is our intelligent, peaceful and helpful citizens again become the great nation in the region and the world.
At the same time that i had these achievements and social contribution, i also gained experiences and developed myself noticeably. When I look back, i have enabled many people to advance themselves, including many friends in ICX team, lc ifl, my classmates, YLC oc members, faci, and participants. Most of the opportunities i had are from AIESEC, i do love it. It is the excellent platform where leadership roles and opportunities to be initiative and creative are fully given to many individuals. When we are member, we learn some, but when we become the leader or manager, we learn mountains of knowledge. There may be no one to guide us what to do, but if we challenge ourself and figure out solutions and put them into practice, we will learn much. In short, AIESEC is the lab for me to test and develop my leadership. It is a place to make me realise who I am. Of course, before AIESEC, i was a shy, poor at speaking and pessimistic person, I never imagined myself as a leader, but i realised one thing; "use your strengths to work, avoide your weaknesses, and at the same time advance your strengths and minimise your weaknesses". The most important point to utilise this strategy, you need to know yourself. I know that i am poor at communicating, public speaking, networking, critical thinking, flexible thinking, and debating. But i was blessed with strategic thinking, initiative, persistence, hard-working, and risk-taking. Thus i challenge myself by working on what i was poor at; i chose to be vice president of icx which is sale and recruitment team, i could develop myself much during that time. There we also worked as a team and as a family, everyone worked and shared how to worked well. Of course, some people might think m not a strong and decision-making leader, but i did enjoy much when i saw everyone involved in sharing knowledge and thoughts. We discussed how to contact with schools, what words we should use to talk with them, how to present ourselves and our product to attract customers. Everything in icx team was created by the whole team. I tried to impose leaderships-role sharing strategy by giving each person chance to lead others, but it didnt work well, because all functions in icx didnt all run. I do love you, my ICX family.
Now, I have these great achievements and contribution, though may not be great to others, it's time to start my career. my dream is to become an entrepreneur and the CEO of consultant and investment company. I have prepared myself so hard towards that goal. Honestly, this goal was just developed during my @life. Before joining @, I thought of my weaknesses only and my previous goal was to become an auditor or government officer where everyone earns very high income, I wanted something that is stable and doesn't require much leadership skill. my dream used to be a normal life without any big challenges nor developments. As I have mentioned, I never imagined myself as a leader. However, AIESEC made me realise something special, my talents. And I want to be a great person who will work with lots of interaction and creativity, be able to develop my society welfare and become a hero in my career. Thus, my eventual goal is to be entrepreneur and CEO of consultant and investment company. "Give a person a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day. Teach a person to fish, and you’ll feed him for a life. Support a person to run a company to fish, and you’ll feed hundreds of people for hundreds of years."
I have prepared myself towards entrepreneurship so far. First is my leaderships, I challenge myself and figure out ways of being a good manager. Although, I still have a few weaknesses, I have experienced many leadership roles, compared to my peer. ALso, business ideas always popped up to my mind, and I always note down in my phone. I also tried to involve much with business plan competition and finally I won the bronze medal from National SME business plan competition. At the same time, I am the Young Leaders Challenge manager where I can learn much from participants' business ideas. I met a few managers, and I realised that many elders are willing to help our generation to succeed. I were very grateful for them.
After I won the 3rd place at National SME business plan competition, I started to focus on searching for my career. Now I see one great opportunity given by Emerging Market Consultant who will create a project related to incubation centre which is to help early-stage business to grow. I really wish I can utilize my experience and work at that consultant company. I want it badly. I passed to the final round, and next week at most, the result will be released. I also applied to the stock exchange company, but luckily I didn't accept their offer. Just now, the ministry has banned these stock companies from selling golds and other currencies. For the consultant company I applied for, I really believe I have the right qualification for them. Nowadays, there are very few people having experiences related to young entrepreneurship and leaderships roles like me. I will work at my full potential for the company if I am recruited. I can't wait to work there. Although, I do believe in myself, I still feel worried about it, I have never felt like this before. Perhaps, it is the only opportunity I can find right now. Of course, the world's trend is to focus on SME, but in Cambodia, that area is not very popular. However, I can envision that in the near future of 3 to 5 years, there will be many projects related to entrepreneur in Cambodia who will come to EMC to ask for consultant, because this company has high potential of being the market leader in the SME project consultant field.
Everything I have done is towards my goal. I am always and will be happy with what I am doing, I feel I am taking the right path. No matter what barrier is in front of me, I won't ever give up. I will stick to my plan.
Good luck to me. :)

My Dream Life
Cambodia is a developing country where many people in the countryside are struggling to work just to survive while those at the urban area enjoy far much better lives just like other highly developed world. I totally with Samdach Hun Sen speech during my graduation ceremony 22nd February 2011 that despite hard-working, not everyone can succeed, we need opportunity and smart-working. We need government to support. But i also want to add that we also need businesses and NGOs as well, these too will help government develop the nation.
My dream life is to help nation develop by being a strong pillar for business people to develop their businesses and develop their society. NGOs is not sustainable since it needs sponsor, but has no tie to guarantee the sponsor will support forever. For the government, no government stays long time, 10 or 20 years at most. But I do want to develop my country with long-live sustainable solution.
My goal is to run an investment company which provides financial and consultant support to other businesses in Cambodia to grow sustainably and effectively. My goal is set according to my passion and my view of happiness in the future. I will be happy when:
-I can help many people around me to run business,
-I will gain much knowledge from my career, and I like new knowledge
-When I can help others to run business, I can also help my children to run it. I will be able to have lots of knowledge to convey to my children.
-I will make people around me proud of me. I am to be a tycoon and a great business leader.
-consultant service is a forever career. There is no retirement age for consultant. And it is a true knowledge-based career.
-I will experience lots of new things in lots of companies. I love initiative and creativity.
"Give a person a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day. Teach a person to fish, and you’ll feed him for a life. Support a person to run a company to fish, and you’ll feed hundreds of people for hundreds of years."
There are 2 ways to achieve this:
I. Start from Analyst for consultant firm
then become consultant in 5 years
After 5 years, I will be consultant in investment firm or CEO in consultant firm
In 10 years, I will raise fund and start my own investment firm or be CEO there.
When I am 55, I want to have fund in at least 10 companies.
II. Start from broker at the stock market company
Being stock broker for 3 years
Senior stock broker for 5 years
Investment fund for 10 years
Investment company
When I am 55, I want to have fund in at least 10 companies.
I wish to be a tycoon who can help lots of people around me.
